‘Tis the Season to Give Back at Noble’s Pond

Every day is a good day to give back. It’s one of the many things that Noble’s Pond’s homeowners agree on and look forward toWith the members of our community being so dedicated to giving back to the greater Dover, Delaware, community and the causes they hold near and dear, this time of year is when our homeowners’ philanthropical pursuits take center stage.

In the recent months, our homeowners have volunteered their time, raised money and collected supplies and resources for all types of charitable causes. Here’s a recap of some of the ways the members of our community have worked together for the betterment of others.

Girls Night Out to Fight MS

This fundraiser is an annual event that has become a staple in the Noble’s Pond community. While this year’s edition differed from the past, homeowners were still able to raise $7,330 thanks to the kindness of donors and volunteers. Unable to do a formal check presentation this year, members of the community look forward to sending the check to the MS Society of Delaware to support their research for a cure.

A Special Gift for Those Protecting Us

It was an ambitious undertaking — one we knew our community would succeed at. The homeowners worked together to have over 4,000 holiday cards mailed to active military servicemen and servicewomen, as well as retired military servicepeople at senior living communities.

United Services Organization (USO) Canned Food and Item Drive

Having fun and giving back — the two things we love most at Noble’s Pond. As summer came to a close, we figured the best way to close out pool season was by coming together for outdoor fun while giving back to our troops.

We held a polar plunge and food drive for the USO and asked all who attended to bring one item to be donated to returning troops. Among the items collected were chips, Powerade, pretzels, popcorn, granola bars, disposable bowls, paper towels and more. As our country’s servicepeople return home from abroad, they’re often required to endure long flights and make multiple stops along the way. We hope our donations provide them with comfort on the journey back.

Quilts of Valor

In case we haven’t mentioned it before, we love our veterans here at Noble’s Pond. This year, our quilting group designed and put together 26 patriotic quilts that were donated to retired military at Noble’s Pond and in the surrounding local area.

Advent Calendar Food Drive

Our homeowners have dedicated much of this year to helping those who have been adversely affected by current events. With the holidays approaching, they realized the importance of helping keep the shelves of our local food pantry stocked. To make it fun, our homeowners create an advent calendar which indicates which type of food item we’ll be collecting each day to donate to the food pantry. The food drive is expected to continue through Dec. 24, 2020.

Joey’s Tree

A yearly tradition at Noble’s Pond, is dedicated to the memory of homeowner couple, The Lawsons’ grandson Joey. The Lawsons lost Joey to childhood cancer. All the kids in the hospital where Joey was cared for loved playing bingo and winning Legos. This became the inspiration for the Noble’s Pond community’s Joey Tree, which is made up entirely of Legos. All the Legos get donated to Bay Health and Johns Hopkins Pediatric Cancer Departments.

Toys for Tots

Our homeowners believe every child should have presents under the tree to unwrap for Christmas. That’s why Toys for Tots is a cause we hold so near and dear in this community. Our community collection box is already so full, and we’ll be continuing to collect more toys through December. The more the merrier!

As you can tell, the holiday season is busy season here at Noble’s Pond and we wouldn’t have it any other way. All of the members of the community are united in the mission to create a positive, lasting impact in our community.
